KML Researchers Interviewed on Think Tech Hawaiʻi

Details
Published: Monday, 02 May 2016

Kewalo Marine Lab researchers Dr. Margaret McFall-Ngai and Dr. Ned Ruby were recently featured on Think Tech Hawaiʻi where they discussed their research program focused on host-microbe interactions, specifically the symbiosis between the Hawaiian bobtail squid, Euprymna scolopes, and the bioluminescent bacteria, Vibrio fisheri. Their interview, Bacteria Can Be Your Friend, addressed questions about how bacteria from the environment are harvested by the host, how the host recognizes its specific symbiotic partner, and the similarities and differences between harmful and beneficial animal-bacterial interactions.
